Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Pooley moved to Dollarton in 1922 with their sons Robert and George and daughter Margaret. Ernest was an engineer in the Dollar Mill and Robert used to visit him in the early mornings at the end of his graveyard shift. Wages at the mill were low so to earn some money while going to school Robert had a paper route and sold magazines in Deep Cove. In 1930 Ernest was killed in an engine room accident. The family had to move out of the company house.
Preserving the stories of Deep Cove and its surrounding neighbourhoods.
