Margaret Gibson

Margaret Gibson and her husband, Jim, were early settlers to the Deep Cove area. Arriving around the same time as the Moores in 1922, they first lived in a rented shack on Burns Avenue, then moved to a house closer to the Quarries. Creeks provided a water supply and a way to keep food cool. “Hauling water and chopping wood was how you passed your time.” They left but returned to build a house on Caledonia Avenue.

Their children attended Roche Point School and both Jim and Margaret worked as custodians to keep the school running.
