A Community Place
Identified early as a potential hub to serve the growing communities of the area, Parkgate has a range of services. Seniors and multi-family housing as well as single family developments were built in the area surrounding the intersection of Mount Seymour Parkway and Mount Seymour Road. Now a community centre, church, library, parks, paths, and playgrounds fill the lands around the crossroads.
The Society acknowledges that the land of the Seymour Communities is the unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We continue to learn and celebrate the culture, history, stories, and people of the Tsleil-Waututh.
