Dollarton
an evolving community
Originally land purchased in 1916, the land at Roche Point was purchased by the Robert Dollar Company. When Robert Dollar built a modern sawmill in 1917, he also built homes, post office, and general store for the sawmill workers. Over time, the homes and businesses grew into the community of Dollarton. However the only evidence of the mill remains in the ruins found in Whey-ah-Wichen (Cates) Park.
Roslyn Park and Sherwood Park subdivisions are part of Dollarton. Retail and services options expanded with the opening of the Dollar Shopping Centre in 1962.
