News

Our boat cruises were once again a great success!

We were thrilled to have our very special guest, author and Mayor of Belcarra, Ralph Drew on board for both dates.

Ralph Drew has recently authored two comprehensive books relevant to the tour – Forest & Fjord: The History of Belcarra and Ferries & Fjord: The History of Indian Arm. These books are available for purchase from the Deep Cove Heritage office along with our own two books Echoes Across the Inlet and Echoes Across Seymour. Terrific summer reading all around. (Note – book sales are by cash or cheque only.)

Soon getting our archival photos online!

Deep Cove Heritage Society is excited to announce that it plans to have the first 800 photos from its archives online before summer. Member Hope Morris has been working for months to put our digital images into a museum software program so that we can share these memories online.

Last of the old “squatters’ shacks” moved

The North Shore News has reported that the little blue cabin is on the move, it was the last of the old squatters’ cabins at Cates Park.  Nancy Kirkpatrick, Director of North Vancouver Museum and Archives put together a history of the cabin and has given us permission to include it on our Stories page. In case of rain we will meet at the Pomegranate Restaurant across the street. The Heritage Chats will be held every Thursday from 11:30am until 2pm until August 20. Come on down!
